Ultra®: A unique 2-phase polymerisation process

Phase 1 Phase 1 starts with a uniquely formulated silicone backbone. A proprietary combination of long- and short-chain silicone monomers results in an exceptionally high oxygen transmissibility and low modulus. ULTRA® prevails in combining breathability and softness where other silicone hydrogel lenses require you to choose between 100 them.
Phase 2 Phase 2 integrates the water-loving polymer Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) within the silicone backbone. PVP chains connect end-to-end, and interweave within and around the silicone backbone. Surface PVP results in a hydrophilic surface with high wettability – without the need for a surface plasma treatment.
